Strengthening family environments to realize children’s rights

While a child’s development is best realized in a family environment where their physical, psychological, emotional and social needs are met, many children grow up in fragile contexts facing violence, abuse and neglect. 

This policy brief explores key drivers of separation of children from their families, data gaps and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on families and includes actions to be taken to support family environments to advance children’s rights and to prevent unnecessary child-family separation.
