About Joining Forces’ Call to Action on child participation
As the international community convenes this year around processes and key moments which are pivotal for accelerating progress towards, and charting a future beyond the Sustainable Development Goals, Joining Forces agencies are mobilizing around a Call to Action to demand greater financial investments, political will and accountability by governments and the wider international community for children’s systematic participation in decision-making processes. Ensuring that children’s right to participate is championed and that children have a seat at the table is critical.
About the new policy brief
The new Joining Forces policy brief, A Seat at the Table: Investing in children’s participation as a cornerstone of children’s rights, is informed by consultations with children, and based on new analysis of how child participation is included in laws, policies and budgets. It presents insights and recommendations for governments on how children’s participation can be embedded in structures and systems, and how legal and policy commitments can be translated into public budgets in ways which promote meaningful and inclusive child participation.
The policy brief will be available from 21 May at https://joining-forces.org/publications/a-seat-at-the-table
