Joining Forces for Food Security and Child Protection in Emergencies / Ethiopia

Tigist’s hope in education

Tigist, a 13-year-old girl from Setit Humera, was forced to leave her home with her family, like many others when conflict broke out in the area. Separated from her father who had fled to Sudan, they fled with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. After days of hardship, they finally reached Wukro Vision IDP site, where they have been living since.

This changed when ChildFund Ethiopia, through the project Joining Forces for Food Security and Child Protection in Emergency (JF-FS&CPiE), distributed scholastic materials to children at Wukro Vision IDP site. Tigist received a uniform, exercise books, pens, pencils, and a school bag. For her, these items were more than just supplies, they were a key to continuing her education and keeping her dreams alive
